GET HIRED – Be the right talent

The job market is tighter than it’s ever been in most current workers’ career lifetimes.  With this kind of competition, what are you doing to put yourself ahead of the crowd?

The upside for hiring managers right now is a full pool to choose from.  The downside is a lot of time required to weed through the muck.

Sauereisen Inc. in Pittsburgh has developed a strategy to separate out candidates that aren’t willing to show some extra effort.  To weed out such applicants, the company will now ask candidates to give an off-the-cuff five-minute presentation of the company and the position at the close of the interview, to test if they’ve done their homework and are truly interested in the job.

Would you be prepared to nail this interview?

It’s not just about the resume and not just about networking.  And if you are spending much time searching/pursuing online postings, you could grow old and never get a hit there.

Remember to do your research.  It’s about the customer (in this case the hiring company) not about you.  What can you do for THEM is what they need to know.

Search smarter, not harder.  Happy hunting.
